Steve Collar - Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Steve Collar is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of O3b Networks. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Collar was Senior Vice President Market Development at SES WORLD SKIES, Steve Collar led the division's efforts to expand its satellite, and service portfolio, including the design of new spacecraft and products. In addition, he oversaw the company's long-range strategic planning activities. He was responsible for Mergers and Acquisitions and was responsible for SES' acquisition of ProtoStar 2 among other things. Mr Collar was intimately involved in SES' investment in O3b Networks; he was on the Board of Directors for the company and now serves as CEO. Mr Collar originally joined New Skies Satellites (now SES WORLD SKIES) in 1999.
Jonas Mattsson - Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr Jonas Mattsson is Chief Financial Officer of O3b Networks. Mr. Mattsson joins O3b from SES NEW SKIES, where he served as CFO and Senior Vice President of Finance. He joined SES in 2005 as CFO of SES SIRIUS where he helped to develop, the Nordic and Eastern European markets. Prior to SES, Mr. Mattsson worked extensively within management teams of various parts of Ericsson as well as the start up company - Ericsson Microsoft Mobile Venture. Mr. Mattsson holds an Engineering degree as well as Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Stockholm, Sweden.
Bill Lawrence - Executive Vice President, Corporate Development
Prior to joining O3b, Bill was a Partner at Holland & Hart LLP in Denver, Colorado. As an attorney, Bill's practice focused on commercial transactions with a particular emphasis on complex financing structures, and commercial real estate development. Bill received the highest Martindale Hubbell rating (AV). After leaving Holland & Hart in 2001, Bill spent more than six years at GMAC Commercial Holdings Capital Markets (later renamed Capmark) where he was a Senior Vice President and investment banker in the structured finance group. At Capmark, Bill participated in over $5 billion of unique and innovative commercial mortgage-backed securitisation structures and tax-exempt bond securitisations, as well as more than $2 billon of commercial loan syndications and senior/subordinated loan participations. Bill holds both a degree in Business Honors and a Juris Doctor degree with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
John Finney - Chief Commercial Officer
John leads O3b's global sales and marketing efforts, along with the product development strategy. Prior to joining O3b Networks, John served as Regional Managing Director for Ciena Corp, where he was responsible , for Northern Europe, Russia and the Middle East. Before this, John held a number of International Vice President positions from 2004 to 2007 with Alcatel-Lucent, including responsibility for the Vodafone business unit. He later served as Vice President of International Accounts for the Northern Europe region. From 1999 to 2004, John served as a founding member of Huawei Technologies' European team. During this time, he secured major contracts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa as the company's Vice President of Mobile Solutions for the EMEA region. Early in his career, John worked for the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office and T-Mobile UK.
Brian Holz - Chief Technology Officer
Brian leads the design and development of O3b's constellation space segment, the launch of satellites and the development of satellite control centers. From 2002 to 2008, Brian worked for Ball Aerospace, and Technologies Corp as a senior program manager, where he managed instrument and spacecraft technical teams. Brian spent most of his career with Fairchild Space and Orbital Sciences as a spacecraft systems engineer. In 1999, Brian received Orbital Science's Outstanding Technical Achievement Award. Brian earned a BSc in aerospace engineering from Virginia Tech and an MSc in space systems engineering with an emphasis in pointing and control theory from George Washington University. He serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Colorado's Space Grant College.
Thai Rubin - Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Thai Rubin is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of O3b Networks. Thai is responsible for managing all legal and regulatory matters for the company. Prior to joining O3b, Thai served as Senior Vice President and , General Counsel of SES WORLD SKIES. Thai joined SES WORLD SKIES (previously known as New Skies Satellites) at its inception in 1998 in a role as Associate General Counsel with responsibility for commercial contracts related to satellite and launch procurements, strategic transactions and customer contracts. Thai assumed the role of General Counsel in 2003 and oversaw a series of transactions including: (i) the sale of the company to a major private equity firm in 2004; (ii) the company’s public listing on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2005; and (iii) the company's subsequent sale to SES S.A. in 2006. Before joining New Skies, Thai was Senior Legal Counsel at PanAmSat Corporation and previously worked as an Assistant Engineer at PanAmSat’s principal outside engineering firm. Thai earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C.
Dara McCann - Executive Vice President, Human Resources & Organisation Development
Dara McCann leads O3b’s Human Resources and Organisation Development. Dara has joined the team from Expand Coaching (a company she founded in 2005), where she was an Executive Coach and HR consultant, she has been maximizing the effectiveness of people in organizations for over 20 years. As an HR expert she aligns strategic business objectives with human capital, bringing a pragmatic approach to finding, engaging, growing, developing and optimizing the right people to realize organizations goals. She is passionate about matching the best people with business needs and aims to make O3b an exciting and effective work place, with policies that drive organization culture and free people to operate at their full potential. Over her career, which consists of working with organizations and clients from many disciplines from Civil Engineering to Service Providers including companies such as Ricoh, DSGi, PayPoint, Premier Foods, LGi and CMG, and IIR, she constantly seeks to understand how people tick enabling them to be productive, effective and satisfied at work.
